Admission Process
When you come to the hospital for admission, please check in at the Main Reception Desk. Our Receptionist will direct you to the Admission Officer who will complete the necessary admission forms with you. You will then be interviewed by the admitting doctor or Registrar about your illness and family, social and personal background. This will be followed by a physical examination. We are keen to meet a relative or friend as they can be helpful in both understanding your illness and providing emotional support. So, it would be helpful if somebody could accompany when you are being admitted. You and your relative or friend will be given information brochures at the point of admission. After this you will be accompanied to the ward by one of our nursing staff where you will have a Nursing Assessment carried out.
On admission to the ward an inventory will be taken of your belongings and the nursing staff will orientate you to the ward. You are encouraged to send any valuables home with relatives.
If you have been asked to attend for admission please bring with you:
A Family Member or Friend, where possible.
Night Clothes
Toiletries
Any medication you are currently on
Insurance details (if applicable)
Any letters or referrals from your General Practitioner or referring Consultant.
