St. Patrick's Hospital, founded in 1745 by Jonathan Swift, is an independent, not-for-profit, mental health facility providing care for patients throughout Ireland. It is a 300-bed hospital, 50 of which are located at St. Edmundsbury Hospital, Lucan, providing extensive out-patient clinics, day treatment services and community catchment area services. Our therapeutic focus is on specialist delivery of high quality service in a patient centred environment.
An undergraduate and postgraduate teaching hospital, we are affiliated to University of Dublin, Trinity College, and provide training for students of nursing, medicine, social work, psychology and occupational therapy. We have extensive research programmes in the bio-psycho-social aspects of mood disorders in dual diagnosis.
