Dr. Sarah Prasad trained in medicine and graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1998. She commenced her training in psychiatry in 1999 and was trained in both Australia and Ireland. During her specialist training, she focused her research interests on the prevalence of mental health problems among patients with 22q11.2DS, a genetic condition linked to certain psychiatric disorders, and was awarded an M.D from RCSI for her research. She also received training in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) from Trinity College Dublin.
Dr. Prasad has a special interest in eating disorders and the application of evidence based treatments to treat and enhance the lives of individuals with these disorders. She is currently a co-investigator in a research project with Dr. Bokde (TCD) investigating changes in the brain in recovered individuals with anorexia nervosa using neuro-imaging techniques. Dr. Sarah Prasad is the Consultant Psychiatrist on the Eating Disorder Programme at St. Patrick’s University Hospital and sees patients at the Dean Clinic in Sandyford and St Patrick’s University Hospital.
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, there are two in-house doctors with a primary role in managing medical and pharmacological aspects of treatment on the programme. They are accessible throughout the day to service users. They also provide additional psychological and educational support. A weekly educational group provides service users with information, education and more detailed discussion about eating disorders.

Leanne has over 10 years’ experience in mental health and has worked in St Pats for over 4 years. She has worked in a variety of specialist areas including; Personality Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Adolescent Mental Health and Eating Disorders.

Catherine trained in mental health nursing in SPUH and is a graduate of Trinity college with extensive experience in various areas of mental health. She has many years of specialist experience of working with both young adults and adults suffering from eating disorders. Catherine is involved in education and the advancement of eating disorder services ,daily running of the eating disorder programme and liases between SPUH and outpatient clinic in Sandyford .She has a keen in interest in specialist supportive therapy ,motivational interviewing, solution focus therapy and group facilitation and incorporates these skills when working with clients and their families both individually and in groups.

Vasiliki is an accredited Social Worker and Systemic Psychotherapist, registered member of the Irish Association of Social Workers, the Family Therapy Association of Ireland, and the Irish Council for Psychotherapy.
She has lengthy experience of working with adults, children, couples and families in the fields of eating disorders, addiction and mental health and specializes in the area of relationships and family.
Vasiliki works in SPUH’s Eating Disorder Programme with individuals, couples and families affected by an eating disorder. She provides therapy for families who live with a person recovering from an eating disorder. Vasiliki also provides therapy for relationship and communication difficulties and various other issues such as: self harm, trauma, abuse, domestic violence, bullying, bereavement, separation, sexuality, addictions and mental health difficulties.
Vasiliki has a special interest in young adult and adolescent mental health, and mental health recovery.

Toni, the only Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the country specialising in eating disorders, has 20 years experience in working with this client group. She was awarded a masters degree in eating disorders from the Tavistock Centre and University of East London, and uses her expertise in the provision of eating disorder services in St Patrick’s University Hospital
She works with clients and families on a group and individual basis, manages the overall running of the inpatient and daycare aspects of the eating disorders programme and provides a consultative and educational service to all health professionals.
She is also involved in research and is currently undertaking a PhD in Trinity College Dublin in the area of partners of people with eating disorders.

Louise has worked in mental health in a variety of settings, since graduating from Trinity College in 2003. Louise has been working on the eating disorders programme in St. Patricks since 2007. Louise is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy in Trinity, and will be completing research in the field of eating disorders as part of this. Louise is especially interested in motivational group work and lifestyle change in eating disorder recovery.

Teresa has extensive experience in mental health nursing and has specialised in the area of eating disorders for the past five years. She has training in group facilitation skills and motivational enhancement therapy. She is currently undertaking training in counselling and psychotherapy.

Dr McGurk has over ten years experience working in the field of mental health and has worked in St Patrick’s University Hospital for the last three years. She adopts an integrative approach in her work drawing on psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, cognitive analytic therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy principles.
Dr McGurk has a particular interest in the role that emotional difficulties play in the development and maintenance of eating disorders. She provides both psychological assessment and intervention as part of her role on the team. In addition, Dr McGurk works with her colleagues in the Psychology Department as a group facilitator on the ‘Living Through Distress’ Programme.

Dr Mary McCreery is a Consultant Clinical Nutritionist and Dietitian with extensive experience in Dietetics and Nutrition in both adults and adolescents. She is Ireland’s leading Dietetic Specialist in Eating Disorders. She has a number of published papers and is a leading authority on Nutrition in the media. She is a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute and is a qualified Counsellor.
After graduating in Human Nutrition and Dietetics she commenced work in St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin. While there, she developed her interest in Obesity and Anorexia Nervosa and pursued these in her future career when she commenced work with the leading Psychiatrists in St Patricks University Hospital and St John of Gods Hospital Dublin.
She completed her PhD in Trinity College Dublin in 1993 and then returned to Trinity in 2005 to achieve a First Class Honours in her training in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Particularly interested in Motivational Interviewing and Meal Support.
